Synopsis

After last year's sell-out production of Gulliver's Travels, YMT returns to the Lyric Theatre Belfast with the extraordinary history of one of Ireland’s most famous warrior kings. A vivid musical adventure, Mad Sweeney undergoes a series of purgatorial adventures after he is cursed by a saint and turned into a bird at the Battle of Moira – a curse that’s still alive today.

This stimulating and challenging new piece combines haunting Celtic folk music with influences of contemporary pop, in what promises to be a highly imaginative journey back to the Dark Ages.
