‘Beware the Jabberwock my son: the jaws that bite, the claws that catch...’
Flora and Jess are two girls separated by more than a century, but a chance meeting across time leads them to join forces in order to defeat the terrifying Jabberwock who lurks in the world beyond the mirror.
Adapted from Lewis Carroll's much loved classic Through the Looking Glass, Jabberwocky ventures once more into a nonsensical world where the triumph of hope rests with the power of friendship and imagination.
Playing in one of the oldest theatres in Britain, the stunning Theatre Royal in Margate, this exciting and innovative production is brought to life through the musical vision of Rebecca Applin, currently Composer in Residence at Ipswich Wolsey and Colchester Mercury Theatres.
CASTING: This is a show packed full of colourful characters from Lewis Carroll's universe, who all live in the world beyond the mirror and therefore there are lots of great roles in the piece - quirky, comic, serious, bossy, threatening…it’s a piece for a broad diversity of cast members and skills. The show is a mixture of comedy and poignancy, with a strong message about embracing individuality. Jabberwocky is full of a wide variety of songs including lots of big choral harmony numbers as well as beautiful ballads, quirky numbers which embrace the ‘nonsense’ language of the piece, and rousing anthems.
