Elizabeth Charlesworth

Elizabeth is one of the three inaugural young composers on our Triptych Programme! A composer, orchestrator and arranger based in London, Elizabeth trained at the University of Nottingham, graduating with a First, and has since worked to create new works for the stage and beyond.

Her musical, A Lie, was performed at the Mac in Belfast and has had two further performances including the upcoming Youth Music Theatre Youth Orchestra concert at the Lyric Hammersmith. 2015 saw Elizabeth collaborating with YMT as composer and musical director on a second commission with director Ellis Kirkhoven and choreographer Deborah Galloway on The Midnight Flower Press. First Ladies is Elizabeth's third Youth Music Theatre UK commission.

Elizabeth was trained as a Youth Music Leader with City Arts Nottingham and has since written extensively for music and education in commissions for the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and Nottingham City Council. Her recent project is a miniature song cycle for Nottinghamshire primary schools based on Nick Cope's The Art of Being Brilliant.

Alongside her commissioned work, Elizabeth has worked with writer Adam H Wells on two new musicals. The Reviewers saw a full run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2014 and Afterthought was shortlisted by Fairground Theatre Company for Songs from the Playground in 2015.
