Deborah Galloway

Most recently Deborah directed the remount of INALA, 2015 for The Chekov International Theatre Festival, Moscow, Sadlers Wells and ATG UK theatre tour.
Deborah was employed as assistant choreographer for the creation of INALA: featuring Ladysmith Black Mambazo. INALA opened the 2014 Edinburgh International Festival at the Edinburgh Playhouse, played at Sadler's Wells, a UK Tour and was invited onto the Royal Variety Performance.

This year Deborah was assistant choreographer to Rambert’s artistic director, Mark Baldwin on a new Rambert creation, Dark Arteries which premiered at Sadlers Wells, May 2015. Deborah first worked with Mark Baldwin on a dance creation for the National Theatre inspired by the National Theatre’s production of Antigone, Directed  by Polly Findlay. In 2014 Deborah was assistant choreographer: Not a cloud in the Sky, created to Mahler’s 4th Symphony with Ballett des Saarländischen Staatstheaters, Alte Feuerwache Theatre, Saarbrucken, Germany.

Deborah trained at the Royal Ballet School and Bush Davies school of Performing Arts before graduating from Manchester University with a BA (Hons) Drama.
Deborah’s performing career includes: The Royal Ballet’s The Nutcracker, Royal Opera House, backing dancer for Paula Abdul and as an actress/singer in the rock musical Race with the Devil at Rosemary Branch Theatre. As an actress Deborah’s credits include Charlotte Corday in the play MaratSade, Contact Theatre, Manchester, Madame in Genet’s The Maids at Rosemary Branch Theatre and The Firebird at the Dukes Theatre, Lancaster.

After gaining a diploma from LABAN In choreography and choreology, Deborah’s work has included choreographing a new jazz opera: VICE with actor musicians. Movement Director for Theatre North’s one man version of The Tempest, Mirando, and directing & choreographing Vintage Rambert, a dance theatre production inspired by the Rambert archives and Marie Rambert’s life story. Vintage Rambert was restaged as part of the opening celebrations of Rambert’s new building on the Southbank 2013.

Following The Midnight Flower Press Deborah will be working with comedian Ishi Khan Jackson on her autobiographical show, I am Happy.
