Andrew Doyle

Andrew is a writer and stand-up comedian.  He has recently collaborated with musician Craig Adams on adaptations of Terry Pratchett’s Soul Music (YMT) and Carlo Collodi’s The Adventures of Pinocchio (Castle Theatre, Wellingborough).  Andrew’s other musical theatre work includes The World Must Be Peopled (Soho Theatre / Nabokov), and The House of Lady Babylon (Bad Physics Theatre).

Andrew’s plays include: Borderland (national tour for 7:84 Theatre Company, Scotland), The Second Mr Bailey (BBC Radio 4), Jimmy Murphy Makes Amends (BBC Radio 4), People of the City (Soho Theatre STARTS commission), Darker Side Down (Arad Goch Theatre, Aberystwyth), Shamlet (King’s Head, London), and Cockfight (Canal Café Theatre, London).  Borderland is published by Oberon Books and The Second Mr Bailey is available on iTunes.  He is Associate Writer at the Canal Café Theatre, London. 

Andrew has written and performed three solo stand-up shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe: Zero Tolerance, Crash Course in Depravity, and Whatever It Takes which transferred to the Soho Theatre in London.  He also co-wrote and performed in the sketch show Christie & Doyle’s Axis of Evil (with Bridget Christie) and was the principal writer on the sketch show Pop Tarts at the Pleasance Courtyard. 

He is currently writing a biography of Belfast novelist Forrest Reid with support from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
