Dates: Tuesday 7th August- Sunday 12th August

Location: Priorsfield School, Godalming, GU7 2RH

Our Young Writers and Composers course aims to identify and develop new musical theatre writing talent. The course is for writers and composers – aged 16-21 – from those who are already writing musical theatre to those who might like to experiment with the art form. The course nurtures new talent and encourages creativity and can offer future opportunities in YMT productions and projects.

We welcome applications from any young person who is interested in becoming a book writer, lyric writer, playwright, composer or any combination thereof. Our work includes creating, developing and devising new work, as well as performing new commissions so our definition of music theatre is very wide and can include: chamber opera, music theatre, Broadway-style musical theatre and plays/physical theatre with significant musical elements.

We select up to 20 young writers and composers/musicians from a nationwide submission of material and ideas. This group will be invited to take part in a six-day residential course led by professional musical-theatre writers.
