Music Theatre for All
Our local outreach programme which is aimed at communities and school clusters. This is our scheme for introducing new music theatre and our work to a wider range of young people.
Music Theatre for All bridges formal and informal sectors of education. We deliver the programme through introductory workshops in schools followed by a five-day holiday programme that allows young people from different schools and localities to work together towards a final performance. The project is open-access so it offers all young people the opportunity to participate.
Music Theatre for All is now an accredited learning course delivering a Certificate in Musical Theatre Production through Trinity Guildhall at Grade 4, equivalent to GCSE Grades A-C/Standard Grade Intermediate 2. For further information on this go to Accreditation.
The artistic process focuses on devising and improvising using drama, music and dance to create a piece of new music theatre inspired by a chosen theme: either from the curriculum, selected by the young people or enabled by the artistic staff. During the workshop period, the artistic team encourage the young people to contribute lyrics, poems and experiences to create the songs, dialogue and movement for the performance. The use of these techniques in the project ensures that the young people have significant levels of ownership in the final product.
Our creative teams use well tested techniques to increase our young people’s self-confidence, teamwork and communication skills. As the project progresses they use these skills as they integrate as a performing group.
We are currently running Music Theatre for All in Strabane and Wandsworth and planning projects for Middlesbrough, Southwark, Hownslow and Hastings.

I learned to work in a team setting, and my acting skills and confidence improved. I didn't feel there was an age difference between anyone, as the older kids were wonderful to me. The staff were the same. It didn't matter about age or experience when it came to getting a part. It was the best experience of my life and to be with a bunch of people who really became like brothers and sisters. The whole group was fond of each other, and we missed each other terribly when we went away. I cried for three days!
