Instrumental courses

We offer instrumentalists a unique chance to work and learn with some of the UK’s top theatre composers and musical directors as well as a great way to broaden your perception and experience of performance, by taking part in a fully-staged show in a leading professional theatre.

Group of four young musicians playing instruments

If you play any instrument - from the bassoon to the bass guitar, the harp to the french horn - and you're Grade 7 standard or above, then we'd love to hear from you! We provide opportunities for talented musicians to take part in our projects. Sometimes this is part of a pit band, and sometime as an 'actor-musician'. Our shows are staged at some of the most respected theatres and arts festivals in the country, and you'll have the chance to work with Composers and Musical Directors of a very high calibre. In the past we have worked with MDs such as Martin Lowe (Mamma Mia! The Movie), Dean Austin (Spamalot) and Mark Dougherty (Riverdance) and Composers such as Howard Goodall (The Hired Man, Love Story) and James Bourne (from the bands Busted and Son of Dork).

You'll come and work with one of our companies, along with other young musicians, actors, singers and stage managers. The courses are residential and the shows are then performed in professional theatres. There is a course fee for our Instrumental Courses, which goes towards paying the costs of your accommodation, food, pastoral supervision & tuition during the time on the course.

You can audition at any of the venues we're visiting in 2012. You can see a list of them here. Those which have a musical icon  we will have set audition slots for musicians, but we can also fit you in first thing or at lunch time if your nearest city doesn't have specific sessions so don't worry.

If you are interested in auditioning then please call the office on 0844 415 4858 or email Clara Whitlock .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
