Creative Trainee Scheme
Opportunities for Emerging Composers/Musical Directors, Designers, Choreographers and Directors
YMT's Creative Trainee Scheme aims to help emerging artists build up their work experience by helping on professionally-staged productions. The next round of applications will opens in September 2018 for the summer 2019 season.
Each placement involves working alongside our professional artistic and technical staff on residential courses for young people aged 11-21 across the UK. The shows usually involve around 38 young performers. The placements are ideally suited to conservatoire/university graduates or final year students wishing to develop a career in music theatre or related areas and who are committed to working with young people.
The productions involve young people selected from auditions across the UK and these projects will be creating new music theatre in a variety of genres. Production courses generally run for two/three weeks during JULY and AUGUST.
The programme of activity will vary but each trainee will have a considerable level of responsibility, the exact nature of which will be decided upon in conjunction with the director, designer, stage manager or musical director of the project.
Each trainee will receive accommodation, food, travel during their placement as well as a £75 per week allowance.
In 2019, each of our productions will require an Assistant Music Director, Deputy Stage Manager, and either an Assistant or Associate Designer, to be filled through the Creative Trainee Scheme.
Depending on the requirements of our creative teams, there may also be room for an Assistant Director or Assistant Choreographer on some projects. If you are interested in either of these roles, please still feel encouraged to apply through the form below.
Please read the relevant Person Specification below, and then submit your online application here. If you have any questions or difficulties, please feel free to get in touch with Jenny Wilkinson, Assistant Producer, at firstname.lastname@example.org or on 02085637725.
