Opportunities for Emerging Artists
YMT's Creative Trainee Scheme aims to help emerging artists build up their work experience by helping on professionally-staged productions.
Each placement involves working alongside our professional artistic staff on residential courses across the UK. The shows usually involve around 38 young performers aged 11-21. The placements are ideally suited to those wishing to develop a career in music theatre or related areas and who are committed to working with young people.
The productions involve young people selected from auditions across the UK and these projects will be creating new music theatre in a variety of genres. Production courses generally run for two/three weeks during JULY and AUGUST.
The programme of activity will vary but each trainee will have a considerable level of responsibility, the exact nature of which will be decided upon in conjunction with the director or musical director of the project.
Each trainee will receive accommodation, food, travel during their placement as well as a £75/week allowance.
In 2017, each of our productions will require an Assistant Music Director, Deputy Stage Manager, and either an Assistant or Associate Designer, to be filled through the Creative Trainee Scheme.
Depending on the requirements of our creative teams, there may also be room for an Assistant Director or Assistant Choreographer on some projects. If you are interested in either of these roles, please still feel encouraged to apply through the form below.
