Leah Hausman

 

My work as a director, movement director and choreographer has recently been seen in a wide variety of opera houses and theatres on both sides of the Atlantic.  I trained in dance and drama in New York City and went on to complete my studies at the Ecole Jacques Lecoq in Paris.  I have collaborated with a wide range of directors including David Mcvicar, Annabel Arden, Lucy Bailey, Neil Bartlett, Moshe Leiser + Patrice Caurier.

As a revival director my most recent opera work has been Lohengrin (Houston) Le Nozze di Figaro (ROH/Valencia); Don Giovanni (San Francisco); La Clemenza di Tito(Copenhagen); Salome (English National Opera revival); La Bohème (Glyndebourne on Tour revival); Rigoletto (Royal Opera House revival); Madama Butterfly (Scottish Opera revivals) and Der Zwerg (Turin revival);

 

As opera director:  La Navarraise and Oedipus Rex (Palace Opera); Otello and La Traviata (Minnesota Opera); La Cenerentola (English Touring Opera); Four Saints in Three Acts (Spitalfields Opera); Pierrot Lunaire and Berio's a Ronne (ENO Works); 

 

Theatre work directed includes: Lady into Fox and The Little Match Girl (Lyric Theatre Hammersmith); The Seven Sacraments of Nicolas Poussin, The Picture of Dorian Gray, A Judgement in Stone, Night After Night and Sarrasine, co directed with Neil Bartlett for The Royal Court Theatre, The National Theatre, The Tramway, Glasgow; The Crucible, Sheffield; The West Yorkshire Playhouse, The Nottingham Playhouse and The Lyric Hammersmith.

           

I was the movement/drama tutor for The Knack, a course run by the ENO Baylis Programme: I have taught and directed numerous projects for them and have been a guest tutor at The Guildhall School of Music, The Royal Academy of Music and the Guildford School of Acting.

 

Future plans include:  La Clenza di Tito Aix en Provence and Les Troyens Royal Opera House; many revivals worldwide.
