Craig Adams
Craig Adams
Craig Adams is one of Britain’s most promising, up and coming Musical Theatre composers. He originally trained as an Actor at Mountview Theatre School and this is where, without him realising, his writing career began. His devised musical Let Him Have Justice was spotted and subsequently produced by the Covent Garden festival and performed at the Cochrane Theatre, London. The Musical, based on the true story of Derek Bentley, lead to a cast recording at Abbey Road studios.
After the success of this, he was then commissioned to write a ballet called Soho Story.
In between playing lead roles on the stage in shows such including Mamma Mia, Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Into The Woods and Assassins, he has worked continuously at some of London’s top drama schools on devised musicals, including Bed and Apartment 15, as well as being Musical Director on shows like Oh What a Lovely War, and My Fair Lady.
He wrote music and lyrics for Forbidden Theatre Company on various projects for Edinburgh and some co-productions with Wimbledon Studio Theatre. These include Spell, Alice in Wonderland and The Frog Prince.
An evening of his music was presented by some of the West End’s most celebrated performers in 2006 and 2009.
He has recently been working on Lift, a new Musical which was workshopped at the Hazlitt Studios last summer and then had a try out at the Trafalgar Studios, London in November, as part of the Perfect Pitch showcase. Lift is currently in a re-write stage and an Edinburgh run is planned for 2010!
At the moment Craig is working on a new album of original songs, an adaptation of a French novel with writer Nona Sheppherd and a modern re-working of Hamlet for RADA called Battlements.
When not writing Craig works as an Arranger and a Musical Director and is at present working with Kerry Ellis on her one woman show for the Shaw Theatre, Kerry Ellis - The British Songbook.
